Textpattern 4.0.8 is a maintenance release fixing some bugs and ironing out a few glitches which sneaked in during the introduction of new features in our previous release.

“We have fixed one security issue (XSS) on the
public-side with comment-previews, which means that updates are
strongly recommended. The relevance and potential attack vectors are
described on wikipedia.
Since the authentification cookie is restricted to the admin-directory
and not accessible from the front-end, in most cases this means “only”
the info from the comment-data-cookie might be leaked. Users that run
textpattern together with other software or third party plugins that
set cookies might be at risk of having other data leaked, when a user
can be tricked into following certain links.”

Textpattern 4.0.x requires a web server with:
* PHP 4.3+ [1]
* MySQL 3.23+
* The PHP XML extension (included by default in PHP)

The recommended system is:
* PHP 4.3.2+ or 5.0.2+, in mod_php or fastcgi mode
* MySQL 4.1+
* PHP extensions:
o XML
o mbstring
* Apache 1.3+ or 2.0+ with mod_rewrite
* A server OS with locale support
